Corruption Cop Caught Red-Handed, Rs 6000 Bribe Seized in Jaipur

Jaipur, 12 November, 2024– In a bold move against corruption, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have caught a rogue health inspection attached to the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), who was reportedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6000 at his office. The accused official, identified as Dev Kumar, is said to have been asking for the bribe from a contract worker in ward number 93.

According to ACB officials, Dev Kumar was working in the Adarsh Nagar area and had taken advantage of this position to extort money from a contractual employee by marking his own attendance while he was absent. The authorities acted on a tip-off received and apprehended the accused while he was accepting the bribe.

ACB Director General Dr Raviprakash Mehra confirmed that a case will be registered against Dev Kumar, adding that the complaint in this regard was filed by the son of the contractual worker who had been subjected to extortion. The ACB sleuths took action under the supervision of DIG Rahul Kotaki and ASP Bhupendra Singh.

The operation led to the apprehension of the corrupt official and his subsequent interrogation by ADG Smita Srivastava, as per ACB sources. This is a significant step towards curbing corruption in the city's municipal bodies and bringing such officials accountable for their actions.
