Cleveland Cavaliers Games to be Available on Prime Video as Add-on Subscription
In a move that promises to enhance the viewing experience for NBA fans across the country, Diamond Sports Group has announced a partnership with Amazon to bring Cleveland Cavaliers games to Prime Video. As of now, local customers in Cleveland will have the option to access the network's telecasts by subscribing to Prime Video.
According to David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond Sports Group, this partnership is "a tremendous opportunity for us to expand our reach and better connect with viewers." The deal, which marks a significant alliance between Diamond and Amazon, aims to drive long-term value and enhanced experiences for both the partners and fans.
While the details of the arrangement are still under wraps, it is clear that Diamond will continue to produce game telecasts, while Prime Video may offer an added convenience for fans who already subscribe to the platform. However, whether this new feature will improve the overall viewing experience on the Prime Video platform remains to be seen, given past issues with stability and picture quality reported by some viewers.
No official word has been given on when FanDuel Sports Network will debut on Prime Video or what the pricing will be for subscribers. A standalone subscription currently costs $19.99 per month, while Diamond recently launched a new pay-per-game purchase option set to start in December.
It's worth noting that this partnership comes amidst significant financial maneuverings within the company. In January, Diamond Sports Group announced that Amazon was planning to invest $115 million, with the goal of supporting its emergence from bankruptcy. However, in August, those plans were canceled by Amazon according to a report by Sports Business Journal.
