Chinese Winter Sports Athletes Fall Short in International Competitions

Beijing, China - Chinese winter sports athletes returned from two international competitions on Sunday with mixed results, failing to secure a gold medal but showing promising signs of improvement.

Snowboarder Yang Wenlong took home the bronze medal at the FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup, scoring 159.25 points behind Japan's Hiroto Ogiwara, who took the top spot with 169.50 points. Meanwhile, Chinese speed skaters bagged a men's team pursuit bronze medal at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup.

Su Yiming, China's Olympic champion, ended up failing to make it onto the podium after errors in his attempt to complete an 1980 trick. Despite this, Liu Mengting, another Chinese athlete, expressed optimism and considered her performance a "breakthrough". She plans to participate in more competitions and hopes to improve her skills for the upcoming Olympics.

In the ISU Speed Skating World Cup held at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing, Ning Zhongyan claimed the men's 1,000 meters bronze with a time of 1:07.91. Yang Binyu secured the women's event bronze medal with a time of 8:29.72.

Chinese speed skater Tian Ruining emphasized the importance of finding the right competition rhythm and trying new things during this season leading up to the Milan Winter Olympics. The success of these athletes underscores the country's commitment to winter sports development.
