China Welcomes Joint Statement on Israel-Iran Conflict, Pledges Diplomatic Support

BEIJING - 16 June 2025: In response to recent intense exchanges between Israel and Iran, China has welcomed a joint statement calling for respect of state sovereignty and territorial integrity issued by 21 Arab and Islamic countries. The foreign ministry spokesperson expressed support for the effort to ease tensions in the region.

The joint statement, which highlights the need for peaceful resolution of disputes, carries backing from multiple prominent international voices as various countries seek ways to avoid further flare-ups. Notably, China's stance underscores its recognition that stability in this tumultuous part of the world is key, highlighting the potential risks posed by escalated conflicts.

Key points made by Guo Jiakun at a regular press briefing were two fold -- firstly, a commitment from the parties involved to bring about an end to hostilities and address issues through dialogue; and secondly, measures geared towards stemming this escalating global anxiety.
