Centre Sanctions Rs 104.66 Crore for Healthcare in Manipur's Hill Districts

Imphal, Manipur: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to social media on Thursday to express his gratitude towards the Centre for sanctioning over ₹104 crore under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) to provide healthcare facilities in the state's hill districts.

In a tweet, Singh stated that the provision of advanced medical facilities like CT scans, MRI and ICU services would bring healthcare closer to home for the people of hill districts such as Chandel, Ukhrul, Jiribam, Senapati, and Tamenglong. He also thanked Union Health Minister JP Nadda and DoNER Minister J M Scindia for their support in the development of health care facilities in Manipur.

Singh expressed that this recent sanction under PM-DevINE is a step towards achieving equitable healthcare for all the people of Manipur, especially for those residing in remote and underserved areas. The chief minister also shared a copy of the letter from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to the state chief secretary regarding the sanction.

This development comes as relief for the residents of the hill districts who have been waiting for better healthcare facilities in their region. With this provision, more people will now have access to advanced medical care and other health services, ensuring equitable distribution of healthcare resources across the state.
