Central University of South Bihar Launches 21-Day Winter School on Geospatial Science and Technology
Patna, December [insert date] - The Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has inaugurated a 21-day winter school on geospatial science and technology, aimed at promoting technological innovations in the solution of present-day societal problems. Vice-Chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh, who presided over the event, expressed confidence that the mission of 'Viksit Bharat by 2047' would be successfully implemented with the help of advanced technology.
Singh welcomed nearly two dozen academics from different institutions across the country to attend the winter school, which is sponsored by the National Geospatial Programme (NGP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The occasion also saw the presence of experts from various fields, including geology, biology, environmental science, and research and development.
The winter school has been designed as a capacity-building exercise to promote entrepreneurship, with Dean Pradhan Parth Sarthi highlighting the significance of geospatial technology in meeting climate change issues, particularly for the state of Bihar. The event aims to equip participants with skills needed to address sustainable development goals related to agriculture, forest, food security, defence, and environment.
Director Durg Vijay Singh also touted the potential of geospatial technology and capacity-building programs in addressing pressing national challenges. "Geospatial technology has proven itself to be a crucial tool in tackling complex societal problems," he said.
The event also saw participation from experts such as K M Sharma, who proposed a vote of thanks for the academic community. The National Geospatial Programme, under DST government, sponsors of which is funding the winter school initiative, brought nearly two dozen academics together to foster expertise development and capacity building through the Geospatial Science and Technology course
