Buttler's Blitz Powers England to Series Lead Against West Indies

Bridgetown, Barbados - England captain Jos Buttler delivered a masterclass in T20 batting, scoring an explosive 83 off just 45 deliveries to lead his team to a convincing seven-wicket victory over West Indies in the second match of their five-game series.

The match, held at Kensington Oval, saw England chasing a target of 159 after West Indies posted 158-8 in their 20 overs. The chase began with a setback when opener Phil Salt was dismissed off the very first ball. However, Buttler, undeterred, took charge with a spectacular display of power hitting, smashing eight fours and six sixes.

His partnership with Will Jacks was pivotal, amassing 129 runs for the second wicket. The duo's aggressive approach left the West Indies bowling attack reeling, and although both fell to Romario Shepherd in the same over, England were well on their way to victory.

The tourists comfortably reached the target with 31 balls remaining, securing a 2-0 lead in the series. England's dominance continued from their victory in the first game, setting a strong tone as they now travel to St Lucia for the remaining matches.

West Indies, batting first, struggled early on, losing three wickets cheaply within the powerplay. Captain Rovman Powell attempted a recovery with a well-made 43, but England's bowlers, particularly Dan Mousley, kept the pressure on, reducing West Indies to 102-6. Late-order contributions from Shepherd, Matthew Forde, and debutant Terrance Hinds helped push the total past 150, but it proved insufficient against England's batting firepower.

With this win, England not only strengthens their position in the series but also sends a strong message to their opponents about their T20 prowess, especially with Buttler in such formidable form. The next encounter in St Lucia will be crucial for West Indies as they aim to claw back into the series.
