Coach Brendon McCullum has revealed that one of his main objectives is to cheer up captain Jos Buttler after the team's dismal performances in both the T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup.
McCullum stated that he wants Buttler to enjoy the next few years and play with a smile on his face, pushing him towards achieving this goal. His wish has already been granted as Buttler seems to be genuinely enjoying himself, playing with great freedom after coming back from injury.
In Sunday's second T20 match against West Indies, Buttler struck an impressive 83 off just 45 balls at Kensington Oval, showcasing his blistering form. This piece of footage suggests that he is in an excellent mood and a picture of happiness.
"This is the part of my career I want to be present and enjoy this," said Buttler before the series began. "When you get an injury, it makes you realize how desperately you want to get back."
Buttler's batting form has been impressive so far, with wins from two consecutive matches against West Indies in the T20 series. His confidence seems to have grown even more as he plays with freedom and chats with bowlers about last-minute calls.
With England focusing on securing a first T20I series victory away from home in two years, now is an ideal time for this momentum to carry them through to success.
