BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw Handed Over to India: Pakistan Relents Under Indian Pressure

India has successfully handed over a BSF jawan, Purnam Kumar Shaw, who was being held captive by Pakistani authorities since April 23, after the country relented under pressure from New Delhi. The handover of Shaw took place through the Joint Check Post at Attari in Amritsar this morning.

According to official sources, Shaw was handed over to Indian authorities at 10:30 am today (May 22) following established protocols. This move is seen as a victory for India's diplomatic efforts and comes after extended pressure mounted by New Delhi on Islamabad.

In a press statement, the BSF stated that the handover of Shaw was conducted peacefully and in accordance with established protocol. The jawan was detained by Pakistani Rangers on April 23 after he accidentally crossed over to Pakistan in the Ferozepur sector.

The development comes days after India and Pakistan agreed to a series of confidence-building measures, including the handing over of prisoners, as part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two nations. The move is seen as a positive step towards improving relations between the two countries.

According to sources, Shaw has been handed over to Indian authorities and will be received at Attari Border Crossing Point in Amritsar. A team from BSF is also present at the border crossing point to verify the identity and authenticity of the handed-over individual.
