BSF Goes into High Alert Ahead of Poush Sankranti Fair in Border Area of Tirthamukh

GUWAHATI, Dec 11 - The Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified its security measures to ensure a peaceful celebration of the two-day Poush Sankranti fair at Tirthamukh, a border town with Bangladesh. This year's event is set to commence at midnight and attracts thousands of devotees who gather to pay tributes to their ancestors.

Instructions have been issued by BSF Deputy Inspector General Anil Sharma for all necessary precautions to be taken ahead of the festival to prevent any disruptions from miscreants on the other side of the border. The Gomati River and Dumbor Lake, where thousands converge for prayers, are under close surveillance, with riverine patrols strictly enforcing no entry zones.

BSF has also deployed advanced technology such as night vision devices, drones, and CCTV cameras to monitor potential security breaches along the border fence. District administrations in Dhalai and Gomati have been informed about the intensified security arrangements, with joint patrols being conducted by BSF personnel alongside Tripura State Rifles and police. Additionally, local taxi and boat associations are working closely with the authorities to provide a smooth transport service for devotees.

With these robust security measures in place, residents of Tirthamukh can now look forward to celebrating this revered festival without any worries, ensuring a joyous and safe experience for all participants.
