Boney Kapoor Submits Building Layout Plan for Film City Project in Noida, Yeida Approvals Ensued

Noida: Bollywood director and producer Boney Kapoor has submitted a building layout map to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) for approval, paving the way for the development of the Film City project site in Sector 21, Noida.

According to sources, Boney Kapoor stated that the construction work will comply with the provisions of the concession deal, requiring essential film infrastructure such as studios and a film institute to begin first and be finished within three years. The submitted layout proposal includes a large conference facility for cinematic events, an Indian movie museum, and a dedicated film festival zone.

The concept also envisions artist accommodations, tiny studio spaces, big sound stages, an underwater filming studio, and guest accommodations with auditoriums. The facility aims to become a major hub for film production, media, entertainment, and tourism in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Yeida authorities had earlier stated that approval would not be granted until the layout plan was approved. After submitting the proposal, Boney Kapoor met with Yeida officials to discuss the ground-breaking ceremony date, which is expected to take place before June 30.

"The timeline aligns with the concession agreement signed on June 27, 2024, which mandates the commencement of construction within one year of the official allotment date," said Boney Kapoor.

Yeida CEO Arun Vir Singh emphasized that any deviation in the layout plan will not be approved. "The authority has directed the concessionaire to obtain necessary approvals for detailed parking, landscaping, horticulture work, and to develop the project in a phased manner," he added.

The International Film City project is estimated to generate over 500,000 employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly, and is expected to significantly strengthen the state's economy. The first phase of the project aims to cover 230 acres and cost around ₹1,510 crore over eight years.
