Bollywood's Lethargic Effort: Badass Ravi Kumar Falls Flat

By Keith Gomes, Director and Special Correspondent

In the realm of Bollywood, where art meets trash, yet somehow still manages to thrive, a new addition has emerged - "Badass Ravi Kumar". This 2025 release promises an action-packed ride, but disappointingly delivers a disjointed mess that tests the limits of even the most patient viewers.

The film's narrative is set in 1989 and follows Ravi Kumar (Himesh Reshammiya), a "badass cop" who takes on corruption head-on, only to find himself suspended from service for being "politically incorrect". His unofficial mission to track down Syed Bashir (Manish Wadhwa) and Pedro (Prabhu Dheva), the creators of an incriminating camera reel, leads him on a thrilling adventure across Muscat.

However, beneath the surface, it becomes apparent that "Badass Ravi Kumar" is more of an afterthought than a thought-provoking cinematic masterpiece. Himesh Reshammiya's acting prowess is put to the test, but unfortunately, he falls short of impressing. His screen presence comes across as wooden and awkward at times, taking away from what could have been an engaging performance.

The love triangle storyline between Ravi Kumar and two sisters Laila (Kirti Kulhari) and Madhubala (Simona J) lacks depth and logic, leaving the viewer confused and disconnected. The cacophony of characters, convoluted plotlines, and illogical twists make "Badass Ravi Kumar" feel like a parody of its own genre.

The film's makers seem to be catering more to nostalgia-seeking audiences rather than those seeking something fresh and innovative. It's 2025, but the storytelling style looks like it was plucked straight from an old school Bollywood flick - which might as well have been released in the '80s, judging by its dated tone.

Overall, "Badass Ravi Kumar" is a missed opportunity to create something impactful. The film's failure comes down to inadequate effort put into crafting even the smallest aspect of the story. It's safe to say that this cinematic catastrophe won't be on anyone's watchlist anytime soon.
