Bollywood Star Arjun Kapoor Opens Up About His Mental Health Struggles
Mumbai, India - In a candid conversation with India Today, Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor has spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health, sparking an important national conversation on the subject.
Kapoor, who is currently riding high on the success of 'Singham Again', where he plays the antagonist Danger Lanka, shared that dealing with mental health issues requires understanding the underlying reasons behind your emotions. "I realized I was trying to grasp why I was experiencing these changes," he explained. "I had never shown these traits before, and it was confusing to me when my thoughts became consumed by overthinking."
The 'Tevar' star revealed that regular activities like watching a film at night no longer brought him joy, and instead of isolating himself, he made a conscious effort to reach out to his friends, family, and even a therapist. "No one should ever retreat into a shell alone," he emphasized. "It's okay to ask for help and talk openly about your struggles."
Kapoor also shared that his mental health struggles extended beyond the confines of his film career, impacting his daily life in significant ways. He revealed that the real challenge was to take action rather than simply feeling overwhelmed.
"The recovery process is gradual," he noted. "It requires patience to rebuild oneself. And it's not possible to just wake up one day and feel better. Recovery isn't as simple as taking a pill and expecting everything to be resolved."
As a public figure, Kapoor also spoke about the challenges of balancing his personal life with his professional commitments. "I have to continue presenting myself publicly," he said, "even when facing internal struggles. It can be exhausting."
Kapoor's conversation highlights that mental health recovery is an ongoing journey, not a destination. His courage in speaking openly about his experiences can potentially inspire others who may be struggling with similar issues.
In the meantime, 'Singham Again' continues to break box office records with its star-studded cast, including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Jackie Shroff.
