Boeing to Investigate Air India Crash

Airline Executives Meet Amid Ongoing Aviation Disasters

Mumbai (Alarian News Bureau) - The head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stephanie Pope, met with the chairman of Air India, N. Chandrasekaran, on Monday at the airline's headquarters in Gurugram, India, amidst discussions over the recent fatal crash involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The accident, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in the loss of all but one life among the 242 passengers and crew members on board, making it the world's worst aviation disaster in a decade. The crash has raised questions about the safety record of Boeing's high-flying aircraft.

According to sources, Pope was accompanied by Boeing's India President Salil Gupte during the meeting, which aimed to investigate the cause of the crash. The discussion was also attended by Russell Stokes, CEO for Commercial Engines and Services at GE Aviation, and Vikram Rai, the South Asia chief.

Air India, one of Boeing's largest customers with over 200 new planes on order, including 20 787s, had last week requested Boeing to cooperate fully in the investigation into the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) had received Boeing's data regarding the plane at the time of the incident.

Boeing has been faced with a renewed crisis ever since the crash. Under Pope's leadership, the company is engaged in a vast reform effort aimed at re-establishing trust following several high-profile safety issues and production crises within the organization.

Industry experts have stated that Air India and other Boeing users will require reassurance before placing further deposits or rescheduling orders for new planes. The recent incident raises critical questions about the long-term viability of commercial airline aircraft from prominent suppliers such as Boeing.
