Bluey Joins Strictly Come Dancing for BBC Children In Need Special
SALFORD – The beloved Australian animated character, Bluey, is set to make an enchanting appearance on the 'Strictly Come Dancing' ballroom floor as part of the BBC Children In Need appeal show, scheduled for this Friday.
In an unprecedented crossover event, Bluey will dance alongside the professional dancers of 'Strictly Come Dancing', including Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Gorka Marquez, Johannes Radebe, and Michelle Tsiakkas. The dance routine will feature playful moves like the mashed potato, alligator, and the floss, encouraging viewers at home to join in the fun.
Bluey, the central figure of the globally acclaimed children's TV show which premiered in 2018, explores imaginative play with her younger sister Bingo. The series has garnered praise for its sensitive portrayal of topics including mental health, making it a favorite among families worldwide.
The special performance will be part of the charity night broadcast live from Salford, hosted by a star-studded lineup featuring Paralympian Ade Adepitan, comedians Mel Giedroyc and Chris Ramsey, radio presenter Vernon Kay, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, and Bafta TV award winner Lenny Rush.
Neil Jones, one of the professional dancers, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, "Many stars have taken to the ballroom over the years but this is next level. I can’t think of any other better occasion for us to say G’day to Bluey than for BBC Children In Need. It’s going to be Fab-Blue-Lous!"
Sam Moor from Ludo Studio, the producers of Bluey, added, "We are so privileged to have Bluey invited onto the Strictly dancefloor to share some of her iconic dance moves. Our animators have done an awesome job to bring her into the glittering glamour of the Strictly world, and we can’t wait for fans of both shows to enjoy the moment on the Children In Need night."
The event will also feature a special 'Bluey’s Dance Mode Challenge', encouraging viewers to donate via a digital piggy bank. A behind-the-scenes look at Bluey's dance preparation will be aired on 'It Takes Two' at 6:30pm on Thursday on BBC Two.
The BBC Children In Need appeal show is set to air at 7pm on Friday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, promising an evening of entertainment, fundraising, and a unique blend of animation and live dance.
