A thrilling three-day weekend has come to a close in the United States and Canada, with Paramount's family-friendly hit "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" emerging victorious over Disney's live-action remake of "The Lion King". The new installment, also known as "Mufasa", trailed closely behind Sonic by a hair, earning $37.1 million at theaters worldwide.

According to studio estimates released on Sunday, Paramount's film secured its top spot with an impressive win, claiming the title as the highest-grossing box office winner over the holiday period.
