BJP Accuses Congress of Adapting Soviet-Like Policies Post-Independence

Mumbai (Alayaran.com) - Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday made a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing them of adopting Soviet Russia-like policies after independence and reaping only losses. The BJP leader was addressing a campaign rally in support of MLA Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar at Deoni in Latur ahead of the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections.

According to Gadkari, had the Congress prioritised rural development instead, the country's situation would be vastly different. He pointed out that the party's adherence to a Russian economic model resulted in losses for government-run airlines and even gold mines suffered significant losses during that period.

Gadkari stated that Congress' decisions have led to heavy losses wherever it has intervened, implying that if the party had focused on rural development, the outcomes would be positive. "A democracy demands right policies and principles," he said, adding that the fundamental principles of the Constitution cannot be altered, contrary to what some claim.

The BJP leader also took a jibe at Congress' handling of the Emergency period, stating that its claims of portraying Bharitiya Janata Party (BJP) as anti-Muslim are unfounded. Instead, Gadkari said that his party has prioritised various welfare schemes benefiting the poor and interconnected villages through the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

In recent years, over 3.30 lakh out of 6.30 lakh rural villages have been connected with roads under this initiative. Gadkari lauded the Narendra Modi government's efforts to transform India into a "Wishwa Guru". He proposed making rural development a key priority for achieving economic prosperity and ensuring citizens lead contented lives.

"We aim to build a corruption-free nation, drive growth in agriculture and rural areas, and promote national harmony," declared Gadkari.
