BizMeet: PHDCCI Jammu Region Chapter Discusses Ways to Boost Industry and Commerce Growth
JAMMU, Nov 23: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Jammu Region Chapter, held a crucial Executive Committee meeting today, where the top brass of the business community gathered to discuss the key issues and future strategies for promoting the growth of industry and commerce in the Jammu region.
The first meeting after the appointment of Chair Rakesh Wazir, marked an opportunity for the committee members to align plans and outline a roadmap for development. Wazir stated that several steps would be taken to strengthen chamber operations, including forming a working committee, establishing zonal and sector-specific committees, and increasing grassroots membership.
Notably, Vikrant Kuthiala, former Chair of the Chapter, emphasized the need for a thorough review of Jammu's Master Plan to encourage authorities to incorporate suggestions before presenting it to the Cabinet. He also urged authorities to resume the practice of Darbar moves once again.
Former Co-Chair Kuldeep Gupta stressed the importance of promoting local entrepreneurs and products through relaxed taxation policies within the Union Territory. Shyam Lal Kesar emphasized extending support packages for smaller businesses and unemployed youth, as larger industrial players already benefit from similar incentives.
The meeting also touched upon issues such as increasing the stay of yatris to Vaishnodevi for economic growth and simplifying the tourism registration process. Nitin Jain and Sanjay Gupta focused on addressing the issue of double taxation in automobiles within the UT.
Chamber members expressed their resolve to address contentious issues, including flour mills, MNREGA payments, and encroachments in industrial areas like Balole, which remain unaddressed due to lack of implementation.
Representatives from prominent industry associations also attended, such as Rakesh Verma, Bharat Bhushan Mahajan, Parveen Kohli, Darshan Rana, CA Pardeep Gandotra, and Vipul Sachdeva, who underscored the Chamber's commitment towards advocating for economic growth in the region.
The news follows a timely reminder that proactive engagement among industry stakeholders is vital for promoting sustainable development, especially when the nation embarks on its fifth phase of rapid transformation.
