Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Unlikely Love for South Indian Cuisine: His Favourite Dish Revealed
Mumbai, India - Reliance chairman and Asia's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, has never been known to be picky about food. However, a recent visit to Cafe Mysore in Mumbai's Matunga East has revealed that his taste buds have a weakness for some delicious South Indian dishes.
During a visit to the popular eatery, staff members at Cave Corner Café (which seems to have replaced with Mysore cafe as the correct location) mentioned to YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Kamiya Jani that Ambani typically orders his meals packed for takeaway. When asked about his usual order, the staff shared that he enjoys "Rasam Vada," "Idli," and "Onion Rawa." Rs 115, a plate of idlis costs Rs 95, and Onion Rawa (masala dosa) is available for the price of Rs 190.
The Ambani family's affinity for Cafe Mysore's South Indian dish has been well-documented. The family has been known to have their meals packed from the restaurant even when traveling, with some instances seeing them take flights specifically to collect orders.
In a recent incident, Mukesh Ambani was spotted sending his charter flight back to Mumbai after collecting an order from Cafe Mysore while on business in Paris. According to cafe owner Naresh Nayak, "It was flown to Paris."
Established in 1936 by Rama Nayak, Cafe Mysore has become a popular destination for authentic South Indian cuisine. Along with its traditional dishes like idlis, dosa, Mysore Pak, chutney, and sambhar, the restaurant also boasts a diverse menu featuring items like satpadi roti, gatta nu shaak, and fada ni khichdi.
Interestingly, Cafe Mysore holds a special place in Mukesh Ambani's heart, as his favorite dish - panki, a rice flour-based delicacy steamed in a plantain leaf. This unique dish has gained widespread popularity over time.
