Bhagam Bhag 2: The Highly Anticipated Sequel After 18 Years Gets Greenlit
Mumbai, India - In a shocking turn of events that has left fans eagerly anticipating its release, the long-awaited sequel to the hit comedy film Bhagam Bhag is finally coming to fruition. After an 18-year hiatus, Akshay Kumar and Govinda's cult classic will be reimagined on the big screen once again, courtesy of Roaring River Productions and Shemaroo Entertainment.
Sources close to the production have confirmed that Roaring River Productions' Sarita Ashwin Varde has acquired the rights for Bhagam Bhag 2 from Shemaroo Entertainment. As announced earlier, she will be co-producing the film alongside the esteemed producers. The sequel is expected to hit theaters by mid-2025 and promises to outdo its predecessor in terms of fun, laughter, and entertainment.
"Because a special film like Bhagam Bhag deserves a sequel that's just as much special," Sarita disclosed. "When the time was right, we decided to take the plunge." When asked about the plans for the sequel, Shemaroo Entertainment's CEO Hiren Gada expressed excitement at partnering with the production house. "We are thrilled to be part of an exciting project that will continue the legacy of its predecessor by bringing more laughter and fun," he stated.
The original 2006 film Bhagam Bhag starred Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Paresh Rawal, Arbaaz Khan, Jackie Shroff, Lara Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, among others. The beloved comedy was directed by Priydarshan and reportedly made on a budget of Rs 32 crore, grossing an impressive Rs 67.34 crore at the box office.
In the meantime, fans can catch up with Bhagam Bhag streaming online on OTT platforms such as ShemarooMe, OTTplay Premium, and Amazon Prime Video. The sequel's production is expected to be eagerly followed by fans of the genre and those who first fell in love with the hilarious antics of Akshay Kumar and Govinda in 2006.
