BCCI Requests ICC to Shift Champions Trophy 2025 to Bangladesh if Pakistan Doesn't Meet Condition

BCCI Requests ICC to Shift Champions Trophy 2025 to Bangladesh if Pakistan Doesn't Meet Condition

Mumbai, November 12, 2024 - The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to Bangladesh if Pakistan continues to boycott the tournament due to the 'India condition'.

According to sources close to the BCCI, the board is under pressure from broadcasters and sponsors to find a suitable alternative venue for the tournament. With Pakistan refusing to play in India until the 'issue' with sponsorship is resolved, several locations are being considered as potential replacements.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has emerged as a frontrunner to host the tournament, with the ICC already confirming that the country's iconic stadium, the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, will be included in the fixtures list. The BCCI is, however, still hoping for Pakistan's participation and would prefer to postpone the decision if the cricket board from Pakistan reverses its stance.

The ICC Champions Trophy is set to take place between April 29 and June 23, 2025. With the tournament just under two years away, any changes will have a significant impact on the schedule and preparations of participating teams.
