BCCI Constables Committed to Safeguarding Fans as Council Sets Up Guidelines for Post-Match Celebrations

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's Apex Council has decided to set up a committee to draft comprehensive guidelines for post-match victory celebrations, following a fatal stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2025 title celebration at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The move comes as a response to the June 3 incident that left 11 people dead and 33 injured.
The three-member committee will be headed by BCCI Joint Secretary Devajit Saikia, with members Prabhtej Singh Bhatia and Rajeev Shukla. The panel has been tasked with preparing guidelines within a 15-day deadline to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The incident sparked widespread grief, with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah calling it a "major tragedy." He announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased and free treatment for the injured. An FIR has been filed against RCB, KSCA, and other parties involved in organizing the event.
In other news, the BCCI Apex Council has confirmed venues for India's upcoming white-ball home series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin early next year. The trio of One-Day Internationals will be held at Baroda (January 11), Rajkot (January 14), and Indore (January 18), while five T20Is are set to take place at Nagpur (January 21), Raipur (January 23), Guwahati (January 25), Vizag (January 28), and Trivandrum (January 31).
Moreover, the BCCI Domestic Season 2025-26 has been approved, with the season set to commence with the Duleep Trophy on August 28, 2025. The domestic league will conclude with the Senior Women's Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy on April 3, 2026.
