'Baby John' Falls Short of Expectations at Box Office

Mumbai, December 26, 2024 - The highly-anticipated Bollywood film "Baby John", starring Varun Dhawan in a high-octane role, failed to meet expectations on its first day at the box office. Despite being expected to earn Rs 13 crore, Varun's latest movie managed to collect only Rs 10 crore.

The movie, which was released alongside 'Max', the Kannada action film starring Kichcha Sudeep, 'Pushpa 2', and 'Mufasa', a Christmas blockbuster, faced stiff competition from other festive releases. The 'Max' starring Kichcha Sudeep surprised everyone by emerging as an unexpected success story, with collections exceeding Rs 10 crore on its first day.

On the other hand, Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' continues to shine bright at the box office, with a remarkable performance in its third week. The film has surpassed expectations and is inching closer to becoming the highest-grossing movie ever made.

Varun Dhawan's last release, Amar Kaushik's 2022 film 'Bhediya', had earned Rs 66.65 crore at the end of its domestic run after earning Rs 7.48 crore on its first day of release. In comparison to Bhediya and his previous movie 'Jugjugg Jeeyo', which earned higher opening collections, Kalank proved to be a bigger loss for Varun.

The underperformance of "Baby John" is attributed to conflicting early reviews and high competition in the market. However, it remains to be seen how the film will perform over the weekend with positive word-of-mouth about 'Max' adding more fuel to the fire.
