Baanhem Ventures Secures Rs 33 Million Funding from Tech Leader Kumar Vembu Ahead of Its Flagship Show

Chennai: Baanhem Ventures, the makers of the popular business reality TV show "StartUp Thamizha", has raised a fresh funding of Rs 33 million from tech leader Kumar Vembu through his newly-established investment firm 'Mudhal Partners'. This latest development comes just ahead of the show's upcoming seasons, which have secured over INR 200+ crores in commitments for startups.

Launched earlier this year by Hemachandran L and Balachandar R, Baanhem Ventures aims to identify, build, and foster first-generation native entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu as next-gen innovators and job creators with a strong sense of purpose. The show has already attracted various industry leaders to invest in startups.

The flagship business reality TV show, "StartUp Thamizha", aims to showcase a stellar line-up of first-generation entrepreneurs at seed and growth stages exclusively from TN. It will also act as a catalyst to promote a shift in mindset of high net-worth individuals (HNIs) to invest in startups, encouraging aspiring first-generation entrepreneurs to embrace new ideas and build businesses that can drive both people and economic improvement in the state.

In a statement, Kumar Vembu expressed his enthusiasm for Baanhem's vision and scientific approach to producing successful start-ups. He decided to be the first to join this initiative, which led to the establishment of 'Mudhal Partners', a novel effort to nurture native entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu.
