Arunachal Pradesh CM Announces Plans to Restore WWII Remnants in Historical Town of Nampong
Itanagar, Jan 20 (IANS) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced plans to restore remnants of World War II in the town of Nampong in Changlang district, a historical site with immense cultural and economic significance. The government's goal is to boost tourism by giving a new facelift to the town.
Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day Pangsau Pass International Festival (PPIF), Khandu stressed the importance of preserving Nampong's historical, cultural, and economic significance. The state will engage an expert on the project to ensure that it is done correctly.
Nampong has been a hub for migration, trade, and cross-cultural interaction for centuries. Its strategic location on the Indo-Myanmar border makes it significant in linking Southeast Asia and Northeast India. A historical landmark such as this conveys significant insights into country's rich cultural diversity.
Khandu said that through folk songs, traditional sports, and expeditions to historic sites like WWII relics, they celebrate heritage while building a foundation for a prosperous future.
The Chief Minister pointed out the festival is a platform for showcasing skills and products of artisans, traders, and entrepreneurs in Nampong adding a significant economic factor to local self-sufficiency.
Arunachal Pradesh government aims at enhancing connectivity and infrastructure especially in areas including Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) which is getting included on APTDC tourism map, says CM Pema Khandu.
