Arab Parliament President Urges Localization of Artificial Intelligence Technology

CAIRO, EGYPT - FEBRUARY 3 (ANI/WAM) - Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, has stressed the need to localize the artificial intelligence technology industry in Arab countries, emphasizing the importance of strategic planning, financial and human resources, and ethical considerations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Arab Dialogue Circle on "Artificial Intelligence in the Arab World: Innovative Applications and Ethical Challenges," Al Yamahi called for collaboration among governments, academic institutions, and the private sector to build an innovative and sustainable Arab AI system. He also highlighted the need for a robust legal framework that balances technological advancements with ethical responsibility.

The event, organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, kicked off at the General Secretariat of the Arab League headquarters with the participation of high-ranking diplomatic, academic, and specialized figures.

"We need to embark on this journey together, leveraging our collective strengths to build an AI system that truly reflects the values and aspirations of our societies," Al Yamahi said in his keynote address. "This will require a partnership among governments, academia, and industry to create a robust legal and legislative framework that supports innovation while protecting the rights and dignity of our citizens."

The Arab Parliament President's remarks underscore the significance of embracing AI technology as a driving force for sustainable development and social progress across the Arab world.
