Amit Shah To Hold Another High-Level Meeting; BJP MLAs To Meet Manipur CM Amid Unrest

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a series of high-level meetings with top officials to review the security situation in Manipur on Saturday, November 17.
In an effort to restore peace in the Northeastern state, where large-scale violence has been reported over the past few days, Shah yesterday directed his ministers to take all necessary steps to ensure stability and tranquility.
The Home Ministry confirmed that armed miscreants have been indulging in violent activities, causing loss of life and disrupting public order. "Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to indulge in violent or disruptive activities," the ministry stated in a release.
Amit Shah is expected to hold another round of meetings with top officials today as part of his ongoing review of the situation. This follows a previous cancellation of election rallies in Maharashtra due to his own security concerns over the unfolding situation in Manipur.
The BJP MLAs are also set to review the situation, having scheduled a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren Singh at 6 pm today at his residence.
The National People's Party (NPP) leadership under Conrad Sangma withdrew its support for the Manipur government led by N Biren Singh yesterday. The Meghalaya chief minister had blamed his Manipur counterpart for failing to quell the unrest in his state where violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups has led to months of conflict.
To curb further unrest, a total curfew was imposed on Saturday night in Imphal West and East as well as online, with internet services suspended in Jiribam and Pherazwal districts.
