Allu Arjun Granted Regular Bail in Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case

HYDERABAD, JAN 3RD, 2025 - 11:45 IST

A city court on Friday granted regular bail to popular Tollywood actor Allu Arjun in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case. The Nampally Criminal Court directed Allu Arjun to deposit two sureties of ₹50,000 each and cooperate with the investigation.

The court also ordered the actor not to influence the witnesses. This comes after Police had opposed his bail petition while his lawyers maintained that he could not be held responsible for the incident that resulted in a woman's death and her son's critical injury during the premiere show of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'.

Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13 in connection with the case, which also involves the theatre management. He was produced before the Nampally Court, which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. His lawyers later approached the High Court and secured an interim bail for four weeks.

The actor's lawyers argued that Allu Arjun was not responsible for the stampede and could not be held accountable for the incident. The police had opposed his bail petition on these grounds.

As part of the investigation, the police interrogated Allu Arjun on December 24 for three hours at Chikkadpally Police Station based on a compiled CCTV footage of the incident.

The actor's counsel Ashok Reddy stated that the court's directions are in line with their arguments. "We welcome this order and look forward to proceeding with the case," he added.

This development comes after Allu Arjun was granted an interim bail, which had ended on December 27. The High Court had asked him to apply for regular bail at the Nampally court, given that his judicial custody period was set to expire.

The Sandhya Theatre stampede incident has been under investigation since then, with Telangana DGP recently stating that investigations are underway in connection with the case.
