Alliance Intact, Says Akhilesh Yadav Amid Reports of INFighting
New Delhi, January 15, 2025 - Amidst reports of infighting among alliance parties in India, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday reiterated that the INDIA alliance is intact. Addressing the media, Yadav said that the alliance's primary objective was to extend support to regional parties that were strong in a particular area.
The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister clarified that the Samajwadi Party has decided to give its full backing to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, as the AAP is a member of the INDIA alliance. Yadav also emphasized that any regional party fighting against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should be supported by the leaders of the INDIA alliance.
In reference to the recent tensions between the AAP and Congress parties in Delhi, Yadav stated that despite their differences, both parties share a common goal - to defeat the BJP. The Samajwadi Party chief's comments come amidst reports of disagreements among alliance parties, which have sparked concerns about the unity of the INDIA alliance.
Yadav also acknowledged the strength of AAP, stating that the party is "strong" and that the Samajwadi Party will stand in support of them. His statements aim to reassure lawmakers and citizens about the stability of the INDIA alliance, which has been critical to the government's decision-making process at various levels.
The INDIA alliance consists of multiple regional parties, including Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, JDU, DMDK, BTP and Shiv Sena. The leadership of these parties has consistently maintained that their unity is crucial for addressing the pressing issues facing the country.
