UoH Receives ₹5 Crores Grant from HAL for Centre of Excellence in Digital Twin Technology

Hyderabad, Telangana - The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has secured a significant boost to its research capabilities with a ₹5 crores Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). This initiative aims to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Digital Twin Technology, which will be housed within the IoE Interdisciplinary Centre.

The proposal was conceptualized by Prof. Samrat Sabat and Prof. Siba Udgata, with contributions from Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna. Prof. Sabat will oversee the project's implementation, focusing on creating a comprehensive research infrastructure at the AI research cluster under IoE Interdisciplinary Centre.

The CSR funds will be utilized to develop:

  • A state-of-the-art Digital Twin Research Lab
  • A Training Lab for hands-on skill development
  • A fully furnished auditorium for continuous training programs and workshops

Reacting to the announcement, Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of UoH, expressed gratitude towards HAL. "We are thankful to HAL for this generous support that will strengthen our research and teaching capabilities. The upcoming Centre of Excellence will serve as a national resource for innovation and human resource development in digital twin technology."

The establishment of the Centre is anticipated to foster cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and capacity building in digital twin systems - essential technologies for sectors such as aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing, and smart infrastructure.

University officials extended their warmest congratulations to Prof. Samrat Sabat, Prof. Siba Udgata, and Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna for securing the prestigious grant that will propel Digital Twin technology forward at UoH.
