Air Quality Plummets in Delhi: Passengers Arrive Amid Thick Smog
New Delhi, November 18, 2024 - Several passengers arrived at New Delhi Railway Station today amidst the worsened air quality and dense smog that has gripped the national capital.
The deteriorating air quality prompted the introduction of a Stage IV `Severe Plus' under the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. All measures under this plan have come into effect from today, aiming to mitigate the adverse health effects of poor air quality.
Under the new guidelines, only essential commodity trucks are allowed entry into Delhi, while non-essential truck traffic is restricted. Moreover, there will be a ban on all construction and demolition activities in the city.
As the situation continues to deteriorate, residents, especially those with pre-existing health conditions, have been advised to take precautionary measures to minimize their exposure to hazardous pollutants. The Government of India's efforts are focused on ensuring public safety while implementing stringent measures to combat the worsening air quality crisis.
