AIIMS Awantipora Project Faces Uphill Task as Minister Reviews Progress, Sets Deadlines
SRINAGAR, Nov 20: A high-level meeting chaired by Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Masood has underscored the challenges faced by the construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Awantipora. The prestigious project aims to provide world-class healthcare facilities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister reviewed the progress of the ongoing works, assessing the physical and financial aspects of the project. She paid a detailed visit to the construction site, where she observed the implementation of various aspects, including water supply, approach road, and other allied facilities.

According to sources close to the meeting, Sakina stressed that health is a top priority for her government. She announced plans to set up AIIMS Awantipora as a global model to provide quality healthcare services to Kashmir valley and surrounding areas.
She emphasized that the project will not only boost medical capabilities but also strengthen economic development in the region. The Minister assured the attendees that timely completion is utmost essential, assuring them of full support and authority transfer for the speedy execution of the project.
She directed Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to organize monthly review meetings for progress reporting on the project's performance until its completion. Orders were issued urging all concerned agencies to work in coordination with a deadline-driven approach towards final delivery.
"Ensuring Global Benchmarks through Enhanced Operational Excellence" AIIMS projects face stringent deadlines and challenges amid winter time constraints while ensuring maintenance of elevated health standards, said Sakina.
The minister made clear announcements stating that authorities shall focus solely on completing their part until summer comes and work on these issues should not be resuscitated even during long winter months.
