AI Forecasts Transformation in Entertainment Industry at IFFI

In a captivating discussion at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), experts delved into how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to revolutionize the entertainment industry.

At an in-conversation session held at Kala Academy in Goa, Shri Sudipta Bhattacharya, CEO of the Adani Group, and film producer Mahaveer Jain engaged in a thought-provoking conversation on "The Larger Impact of Cinema and How AI will Change the Course of Entertainment Industry".

Bhattacharya predicted that while AI might serve as an aid in the short term, it will eventually become its replacement. He pointed out that the current lack of a feedback system means AI lacks true understanding, but in the future, real-time input from around 500 individuals will provide AI with valuable insights. This advancement will enable AI to produce high-quality content that captures audience attention more effectively.

In his comments, Jain noted Bhattacharya's assertion that AI could potentially allow for the production of one film every day. Bhattacharya elaborated further on how this could be possible without relying on physical infrastructure or scriptwriting, citing the concept of a "great lab" where creativity is free to flow.

However, Jain also raised concerns about the pros and cons of AI integration, highlighting the balance between leveraging its advantages and imposing necessary restrictions to avoid disrupting societal norms. Bhattacharya took inspiration from the cryptocurrency example, pointing out that unregulated policies can lead to stagnation in progress but stressed the importance of regulation, emphasizing the need for a delicate approach.

Ultimately, Bhattacharya concluded by reaffirming AI's inevitable rise and the profound changes it will bring about. Acknowledging potential job loss, he reassured that humanity's innate ability to create new opportunities would counterbalance these effects.
