Agartala: Tripura Government Partners Tata Technologies to Modernize ITIs

Agartala, March 15 (ANI): In a significant move aimed at bridging the skills gap in emerging technology sectors, the Tripura state government and Tata Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to upgrade 19 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state.

The signing of the MoA was attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha, Minister of Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma, and Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brisaketu Debbarma at TFTI, Agartala. According to CM Saha, the agreement marks a "happy day" for the state as the Department of Industries and Commerce has partnered with Tata Technologies Limited.

The government aims to modernize training facilities and enhance the employability of ITIs graduates. The 19 ITIs, which were due for an upgrade after years, will now get access to computerized machinery, infrastructure development, and numerous courses in emerging technologies.

Under the agreement, Tata Technologies will bear 86% of the cost, amounting to more than Rs 570 crores, while the State Government will contribute 14%, worth over Rs 112 crores. The total spending on the initiative is expected to be around Rs 683.27 crores over five years.

"Skeilled people are in high demand, and our large youth population is our strength," said CM Saha. "This initiative is set to boost industries, and we are offering numerous courses to attract students."

Tata Technologies will also provide teacher training and maintenance support as part of the agreement. The company's involvement aims to equip ITIs graduates with modern skills, bridging the gap between traditional industrial training and emerging technologies.

The signing of the MoA marks a significant step forward in Tripura's efforts to develop its tech industry and enhance the employability of its youth population.
