AAP Top Brass Snubbed Kailash Gahlot’s Decision To Quit As He Wasn’t Given Enough Power Post Leadership Arrests: Sources

New Delhi : AAP leader and cabinet minister Kailash Gahlot quit the party on Sunday after feeling sidelined by the party top leadership despite being given several important portfolios post a reshuffle in January this year.

According to sources, 50-year-old Gahlot was expecting better positions and power especially after Delhi's L-G VK Saxena took over as the administrator of the city.

Gahlot's exit follows the party's recent decision to nominate newcomer Atishi for the chief minister position despite him being a more suitable candidate according to many AAP leaders.

Sources claimed that Gahlot had also expected to be given the maximum power with his three major ministries, including law, justice and legislative affairs and revenue being taken away from him post Sisodia's resignation in February 2023.

A senior AAP leader said on condition of anonymity, "You cannot give so much power to newcomers while those with experience sit awaiting better opportunities."

Kailash Gahlot had made an entry into the cabinet alongwith Saurabh Bharadwaj in March 2023 and his ministries were initially allocated after Sisodia was given significant portfolios post the AAP leadership arrest.

Atishi's rise to power happened suddenly, leaving some senior leaders feeling side-lined.
