AAP Top Brass Snubbed Gahlot's Dabba-Daba Move as Young Candidate Atishi Was Forced On Them: A Study In Political Backstabbing

New Delhi, November 18 (ANI): Just a week after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) installed its new chief minister Atishi, its erstwhile senior leader and Home Minister Kailash Gahlot has quit over the alleged snub of a key post.

Atishi's rise was swift, but little does Delhi know that a carefully crafted plan behind her sudden ascension led to Gahlot’s decision to move on. The Aam Aadmi Party seems to have mastered one key art – turning an ally into a foe with just a single move.

The AAP's new chief minister Atishi, who in May last year became the capital's CM after Kejriwal was sent out. However, what happened before that is what makes it interesting and intriguing. In his final days at a senior position of power, Gahlot had become increasingly unhappy with the party's leadership.

When Arvind Kejriwal was in jail, several AAP top brass leaders like Manish Sisodia were missing from government events. But Gahlot made an effort to stay visible by frequently attending the meetings chaired by L-G VK Saxena, according to sources close to him. He even attended those who kept walking away from a massive transport event in Delhi, ensuring that there was no public embarrassment for Atishi.

AAP's decision not to name Gahlot – or himself, Manish Sisodia as part of the flag-hoisting ceremony on August 15 saw Saxena nodding him to head. But what is important here is – despite all these things that stood against AAP’s leadership – it still decided on Atishi to be hoisted on national stage.

The latest information we have from reliable source suggests that in early morning hours, Gahlot, 50, was seen leaving the headquarters of Delhi Aam Aadmi Party party along with a team comprising two other senior leaders. And that marked his final step out of the party.

Overwhelmed by anger against AAP’s decision, Gahlot – A quiet worker from Delhi for over four decades- took an aggressive stand while quitting. What is interesting aspect here is how one single man decided to take on one biggest political party in India and challenge its authority.

Sources close to him said Kailash Gahlot had been under pressure before Kejriwal or Sisodia's arrest but not as much of as it was now. According to his supporters, Atishi – a newcomer- came from nowhere but received a key portfolio post in cabinet with just one year’s experience of making Delhi CM after getting bail. The real question here is: how did the 50-year-old Gahlot expect a better deal from party? Why did he join Aam Aadmi party?
