Aap Top Brass Snub Kailash Gahlot’s Decision To Quit Not On A Whim
The sudden exit of Kailash Gahlot, a 50-year-old AAP MLA and cabinet minister, from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sparked confusion over his decision to quit.
Sources close to the party have revealed that Gahlot was under pressure from central agencies and was forced to leave the party. He had been facing pressure since 2018, much before Kejriwal or his deputy Sisodia.
Despite being a senior-most leader in terms of age after the top three cabinet ministers were arrested one after another and resigned, Gahlot did not receive the expected promotions. Sources have revealed that he was expecting more power and position in the party but was sidelined.
Gahlot's move has been described as "not on a whim" but rather due to significant pressure from outside forces. Despite being allocated important ministries such as Law, Justice, and Legislative Affairs and Revenue by Sisodia before his exit, three of these departments are back with him now.
While Gahlot was relatively silent compared to other AAP leaders during the power struggle between the party and the executive branch, he did manage to sustain some of those alliances which many high-ranking officials could only dream of.
However, his tenure in AAP came to an end when Kejriwal decided to make Atishi the new chief minister. Gahlot was reportedly unhappy with this move and had expected more consideration from the top brass despite his contributions to the party during the tumultuous time.
It is now feared he might consider joining BJP as a result of his current precarious situation within AAP party's power struggle but nothing has been officially confirmed by him yet.
