AAP and BJP Edge Ahead, Congress Faced Rout in Tughlaqabad Assembly By-Election

In a closely contested battle, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to seal deals for 39-47 seats in the Tughlaqabad Delhi Assembly Election results which are expected to be announced by late today evening. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been ruling the national capital for the past decade, can expect to bag only 23-31 seats.
The exit polls revealed that Congress is on the verge of getting zero seats in this election, leaving it with an uncertain future in the national capital where it had ruled for 15 years before AAP snatched away power.
In the crucial Tughlaqabad constituency, key candidates Sahi Ram from AAP, Rohtash Kumar from BJP and Virender Singh from INC will contest.
Delhi witnessed a relatively low voting percentage of 56.03% (approx.) on February 5,2025 compared to 60.8% in 2020, while the polling day saw only a slight drop in turnout.
The Election Commission is announcing results for all 70 Delhi constituencies after holding the election for Tughlaqabad on two phases.
Tough competition was witnessed between candidates where Rohtash Kumar of BJP had received 56.03% votes polled amounting to 1,38,99,388 and Sahi Ram got an impressive 46.7%, while Virender Singh secured mere 14.8%
A large number of voters went to poll to elect a new leader for the NCT from this constituency.
