62nd Session of Khulazu Bawu Village Youth Organisation Sports Meet Begins

Phek, March 4 (Alayaran.com): The 62nd session of the biannual Games and Sports Meet 2024 of the Khulazu Bawu Village Youth Organisation in Phek district commenced on Monday at the village's local ground.

The inaugural session was graced by Keduve Keyho, PS to Advisor CAWD & Taxes, who emphasized the role of sports in promoting national and international competitions. He encouraged sportspersons to consider sports as a serious career, citing Hokato Hotozhe Sema's recent bronze medal win at the 2024 Paralympic Games.

Keyho also expressed gratitude to the village for its water resources and proposed that the event be held quinquennially instead of biennially. He urged athletes to fear God as a foundation for excelling in their careers, while emphasizing the importance of unity among the youth.

Village Council Chairman Khusahu Medeo welcomed participants to the meet, encouraging them to give their best efforts in various competitions. The five participating khels are Tetseotso, Rekhromi, Cekumi, Sazumi, and Phuyoba.

Track and field events, including the 100m sprint, 200m dash, shot put, and long jump, began on day one of the meet. The event will conclude on Thursday with Kethoseyi Rhakho, Secretary of VDB Phuyoba, as the valedictory guest.

The Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been promoting sports in the state to enable athletes to compete at national and international levels, setting the stage for a memorable sports meet. The village's emphasis on prayer and unity is expected to inspire the participants to excel in their respective careers.
