'Mufasa: The Lion King' Dominates Indian Box Office With Stellar Opening
New Delhi, December 21, 2024 - Walt Disney Pictures' highly anticipated film 'Mufasa: The Lion King' has set a roaring start at the Indian box office, with an estimated collection of Rs. 8.80 crore on its opening day. According to early estimates, the English version of the movie performed even better, raking in around Rs. 14.00 crore across all languages in its second day, marking a total India net collection of Rs. 22.80 crore.
The film's occupancy rates, as reported by box office tracker Sacnilk, indicate widespread popularity, with the overall English version recording an impressive 31.50%. By the evening shows on Saturday, December 21, the movie had garnered significant footfalls, albeit unevenly across different time slots, standing at a total of 37.80% in night shows.
Regional-wise performances also display remarkable attendance, particularly in cities such as Bengaluru (47.75%), Chennai (64.50%), and Hyderabad (63.75%) for the English version. Notable attendance highlights for Hindi include 32.00 per cent in Mumbai and NCR's respective marks of 20.75 percent each.
For the Telugu version, occupancy rates reached a remarkable level of 53.63%. Key cities such as Chennai and Bengaluru are seen driving this interest with 58.50 percent marked down in Chennai alone. A considerable number of viewers flocked to watch The Lion King’s Tamil variant, too, especially in large metropolitan center like the Chennai - reaching occupancy levels of 44% for city areas.
It's worth mentioning that the release features an array of stars such as Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., John Kani and Beyoncé. It has attracted millions across India so far, signifying robust enthusiasm at present.
