LSU Division of Computer Science and Engineering Honors Alumnus Mohit Mo Vij with 2024 Hall of Distinction Eye of the Tiger Innovator Award
BATON ROUGE, LA - Louisiana State University's (LSU) Division of Computer Science and Engineering recently honored alumnus Mohit "Mo" Vij, president, CEO, and engineer at 365Labs, with its prestigious 2024 Hall of Distinction Eye of the Tiger Innovator Award.
Vij was chosen for his visionary leadership, groundbreaking innovation, and enduring contributions to the field of computer science and engineering. According to a press release, his achievements embody the strength, resilience, and excellence of LSU's Tiger Spirit. Vij founded 365Labs, which builds software and processes to modernize public safety, criminal justice, and first responders.
A true exemplar of innovation, Vij holds two master's degrees from LSU in industrial and systems engineering and systems and computer science. Since its inception, his company has grown significantly, servicing clients and offices in seven states and being named "Best in Nation" by Microsoft. 365Labs was also named Baton Rouge's Company of the Year in 2023.
The award presentation featured a talk by Vij titled, "The Seven-Mile Journey," where he shared his career experiences and lessons learned along the way. According to Vij, it was heartwarming to return to LSU and meet new faculty members, students, and the chair, who are working towards applying AI to cybersecurity in a focused approach.
Vij's achievements over the years include being named a "Champion of Louisiana" by the Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation; "Your Business Person of the Year," and "Top 40 Under 40" by the Baton Rouge Business Report. However, he was especially praised for his contributions to public safety through computing, positively impacting thousands of lives.
The Division Chair, Ibrahim “Abe” Baggili, commended Vij's qualities as a leader, innovator, and embodiment of the LSU spirit: "Mo embodies the qualities every LSU student should strive for: leadership, innovation, and a deep love for our state. His groundbreaking contributions to public safety through computing have been invaluable, positively impacting thousands of lives. Mo is the epitome of what it means to be a true Tiger, and just like LSU, he builds teams that win!"
Vij expressed his gratitude for the award and appreciation for meeting the new chair, students, and faculty members at LSU, who are driving progress in applying AI to cybersecurity. "It's an exciting time to do computer science at LSU," Vij said.
